You
arrive in Kenya's vibrant capital and are transferred
to your fine hotel. After lunch look toward the
adventures ahead at a helpful safari briefing
with your guide. Afterwards, an afternoon tour
presents a compelling overview of Nairobi's surroundings. Visit
the enchanting Giraffe Center and Karen Blixen
home, then shop for handcrafted goods at the
Utamaduni Center. A

4-5, Amboseli National Park
You're
off on safari with a flight to Amboseli National
Park, your home for the next two nights. One
of the most spectacular sights in Africa is Amboseli's
large herds of game backed by the towering profile
of Mt. Kilimanjaro, rising 19,340 feet above
the plain. Amboseli
is home to over 1,000 elephant, rare black rhinoceros,
and herds of zebra, wildebeest, gazelle, buffalo
and their predators. Your
stay at the environmentally-sensitive Tortilis
Camp will compliment this setting. Savor
breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro from the comforts
of your private veranda; take a guided gamewalk
with a Masai expert; relax in your spacious tent

6-7, Samburu
National Reserve

Fly
via Nairobi to the northern frontier, home of
Samburu people wrapped in colorful fabrics and
jewelry; and the small Samburu Reserve, filled
with specially adapted wildlife found in no other
area. Two
days of morning and afternoon game-viewing will
yield typical northern species such as reticulated
giraffe, Grevy's zebra, Somali ostrich and Beisa
oryx. Search
for leopard in the trees, hippo and elephant
at the river, and a profusion of colorful birdlife. Back
at your traditional safari camp, enjoy excellent

8-9, Sweetwaters
Game Reserve
Depart
Friday toward Mt. Kenya, where you arrive at
Sweetwaters and your superbly-appointed tent
overlooking a floodlit waterhole. Set off-the-beaten-path
in the game-rich habitats of a private ranch,
Sweetwaters offers experiences found nowhere
else in Kenya. Visit Jane Goodall's innovative chimp sanctuary; tour Kenya's
most successful rhino sanctuary; view leopard,
giraffe, buffalo, elephant and zebra with Mt.
Kenya as a backdrop. Other
adventures include game-viewing on foot, at night

10-12, Masai
Mara National Reserve
Take
a spectacularly scenic flight over Great Rift
Valley landscapes to the Masai Mara, Kenya's
northern extension of the famous Serengeti Plain. The
wildlife is abundant here and your three days
of morning and afternoon game-drives will afford
choice views of huge lion prides, resident elephants,
hippos, plains game and predators, and the chance
to observe very moving natural cycles of life. Other
special activities available here include optional
hot-air balloon excursions; fishing on Lake Victoria;
and visiting an authentic Maasai manyatta village. At
the end of each day, retire to a candlelight
dinner, conversation around the campfire, and

a final game-run and breakfast, fly back to Nairobi
for a final night in Kenya. In
the afternoon, enjoy a tour of city highlights
and an opportunity for last-minute shopping and
