Days 4-5, Lake Manyara National Park, Tanzania
Depart on safari Monday morning aboard light aircraft to Arusha, Tanzania.  On clear days, this flight offers spectacular views of Mt. Kilimanjaro and Mt. Meru presiding over the entrance to the famous safari lands of northern Tanzania.  Continue by air to Lake Manyara, whose mirror-bright waters teem with pelicans, flamingos and other wading birds set against the dramatic backdrop of the Great Rift Valley.  Observe wildlife all the way to your small, exclusive camp nestled under shady acacias on the lake's western shore.  The park's impressive variety of habitats and species were celebrated in the writings of Hemingway, and range from hippo pools to savannahs grazed by zebra, buffalo and Coke's hartebeest, to elephant-filled glades, to acacia woodlands where tree-climbing lions lounge in the branches.  Between outings, enjoy fine views and amenities at the only permanent camp set within this enchanting park. Maji Moto Camp (B,L,D)

 Days 6-7, Ngorongoro Crater
Drive Wednesday morning through lush, Rift Valley landscapes to the Ngorongoro Crater.  Here you will spend two nights in the deluxe Ngorongoro Crater Lodge.  You will be thrilled with the lodge's breathtaking views of the Crater below, and the wealth of animal and bird life in the surrounding area.  On Wednesday, descend 2000 feet in your custom Big Five land rover for a full day safari on the Crater floor, complete with a picnic lunch in this lovely wilderness setting.  The Ngorongoro Crater is a self-contained wildlife haven packed with nearly every mammal species to be found in East Africa.  Sightings of rare black rhino are virtually guaranteed, and this is one of the best places to view a lion or hyena hunt.  Ngorongoro Crater Lodge (B,L,D)

Days 8-10
, Serengeti National Park
Friday morning, fly to the world-famous Serengeti Plain, the most spectacular gathering of wildlife on earth.  Millions of animals and birds thrive in the park's vast savannahs and hilly woodlands, and your luxury camp is superbly located amid dramatic kopjes -- ancient, weathered rock formations rising from the grassy plain.  Your game-runs in different portions of the park will yield varied and plentiful species of plains game, lion, leopard, cheetah, buffalo, elephant, hippo, giraffe and numerous fascinating, lesser known animals.  The Serengeti may be best known for its great annual migration, but the resident populations of animals are excellent year-round. Klein's Camp or Grumeti River Camp (depending on season) (B,L,D)

Day 11, Arusha-Nairobi, Kenya
After a final Serengeti game-run, fly to Arusha, where you continue by air to Nairobi.  Here you'll have time for last-minute shopping and a short city tour before this evening's gala farewell dinner.  Norfolk Hotel (B,L,D)

 Day 12, Zurich, Switzerland
Leave Nairobi aboard Swissair to Zurich, and transfer to your accommodations. Nearby are the elegant shops and bistros of this lovely city.  Swissotel (B)

 Day 13, U.S.A. or Canada
Connect with your Swissair flight home, arriving later the same day. (B)
